Next Generation Digital Learning

Learning Architecture with LTI Advantage

Lake Mary, FL (USA), May 2019 - Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) is a standard created by the IMS Global Learning Consortium that links content and resources to learning platforms. Its primary purpose is to connect learning systems such as a learning management system (LMS) with external service tools in a standard way across learning systems. Some see it as a key to unlocking next generation digital learning.

And while getting into next generation digital learning is great, getting to the future of digital learning faster is fantastic! Now everybody can do it by evolving the curriculum, apps, tools, and learning platforms to LTI Advantage. Exploding into higher education, with K-12 not far behind, LTI Advantage is a supercharged-but-easy-to-adopt integration strategy at the heart of a next generation digital learning environment.

LTI Advantage is a package of services that are vetted, supported, and certified by IMS Global Learning Consortium. These services add new features to the core LTI standard (v1.3 or higher) that enable better user experiences from the deeper integration of any IMS-certified learning apps and tools and IMS certified learning management systems (LMS). With LTI Advantage you can streamline the provisioning of course enrollment and automate the passing of assignment scores and grades from your digital tools back to the LMS. LTI Advantage builds on the LTI secure connection by adding a tool profile that provides a trusted foundation for better app administration, privacy, and security.

At the 2019 Learning Impact Leadership Institute, participants can experience LTI Advantage live. The Learning Impact Leadership Institute offers powerful (and practical) ideas for moving the edtech ecosystem forward, motivation to transform teaching and learning technology at organizations, and valuable networking opportunities with peers and partners. This year’s event is being held at the Manchester Grand Hyatt waterfront hotel in San Diego, California, 20-23 May.

The Institute features a series of developer bootcamps, hackathons, and workshops on some of the latest IMS technical work that can be added to the registration for an additional fee. Advance enrollment is required and attendance will be capped to maximize value for participants.
Of particular interest is an all-day session on 22 May designed to support both LTI newcomers and experts in becoming familiar with LTI Advantage.
